Writing

In 2008, I published Harry, A History: A true story of a boy wizard, his fans and life inside the Harry Potter phenomenon. To my amazement and delight it became a New York Times Bestseller. The book is a love letter to fandom. It’s told from a personal angle with the hope it will help those who were part of the madness remember what it was like, and those who weren’t part of it get an idea of what they missed. You can visit my website about it, which has lots of extra bits and pieces, here.

Of all questions I ever get, this is the most frequent: What am I working on now? Well, too many things. I have a solid plan for my next book (nonfiction, about what I believe to be another phenomenon, but not Harry Potter related), and am currently researching it. I’ll make the topic widely available as soon as I am sure about when I will be expected to finish it. I’m superstitious that way. But it’s not all that’s going on in my life right now: LeakyCon 2011 is 11 months away and as I’m one of the lead organizers this time and it seems that we are going to have an outrageously enormous conference on our hands, it is an enormous amount of work – I am still running Leaky and taking part in PotterCast – and more. And, don’t tell anyone, but I’ve had a couple of fiction ideas lately. I promise as soon as I have more I will update this page or the blog first!
